About
Empowering Our Community
At Our Lady of Mercy Community Outreach, our programs and services are dedicated to those we serve by listening to the community and understanding what they need. Every person who walks through our doors has a different story. Some have struggled their whole lives reeling from systemic, generational oppression, and others just have one unexpected circumstance that has thrown them off track.

- Struggling for Stability
We’re not here to solve one problem
We’re here to change the entire direction of a person or family’s life – for the long haul. That’s what makes our approach different. We have dedicated case managers who intimately learn more about the individual situations community members face, provide immediate support and work with them to develop and achieve long-term goals for what their desired path to self-sufficiency looks like.
We See Possibility
There are so many life-changing stories of what happens after coming through our doors. Because when people walk through our doors we don’t see struggle, we see possibility. We see someone ready for change, ready to take the steps to thrive and we are here to lend a helping hand to get them there. We are committed to helping everyone, no matter where they come from or who they are – thrive. For many in the communities we serve:
- Decent, affordable housing and food is scarce.
- Lack of access to living wages.
- Inequitable education resources and opportunities.
- Nearby, affordable, quality health care options are few.
- Without a car, transportation is difficult and time consuming.
- Rising costs of living and gentrification make self-sufficiency and financial stability difficult.
Because Everyone Deserves to Thrive
Self-sufficiency and economic stability are difficult for many to attain due to rising costs of living, healthcare, food, gas, stagnant wages and more. Gentrification in the areas we serve is pushing those in need further out and further away from essential resources. Coupled with the lack of a living wage, many individuals and families find themselves choosing between paying rent and buying food, working multiple jobs to earn a decent income and more. The cascading effect of low wages and the overall lack of affordable healthcare, equitable education opportunities, affordable and accessible housing and digital equity can be devastating to individuals and families.
