Dentists and Dental Hygienists
Professional dental staff are needed for day-long, four to six hour shifts at our free dental clinic. This service is offered to individuals that are in need of dental care but do not have insurance. This is a wonderful opportunity to gain experience and all volunteer dentists are provided with staff support. Please call Dr. John P. Howard, DMD at (843) 559-4493 for more information. NOTE - must have an active or volunteer license, CPR certification, malpractice insurance and up-to-date dental continuing education hours.
Be the face of Our Lady of Mercy Community Outreach as you greet people and connect them to the services they need. Front desk shifts are from two to four hours. Responsibilities include answering phones, light paper work, interacting with the public, etc.
Volunteers to teach computer basics including how to navigate the internet, email access and keyboard usage are needed September through May while students are enrolled in ESL and GED classes. This position may provide individual instruction or group classes.
We are recruiting volunteers who would like to be a part of our "Kitchen Krew." This team will help us keep the kitchen at our Johns Island location in order and help us serve food for various events such as graduations, summer camp and other programs. We are recruiting for a team leader for this group as well.
Special Event Assistants
Come join the fun and lend a hand at one of our many special events including our annual Stock Our Shelves food collection, various fundraisers at local restaurants, etc. Volunteers should have good people skills and a passion for the work of Our Lady of Mercy Community Outreach.
Summer Camp Helpers
Volunteers should enjoy working with children, have experience mentoring and be available during the weeks of July 15-26. Activities include reading, math, science, arts and exercise. Breakfast and lunch will be served for the children, so kitchen volunteers are needed to organize the dinning program.
Do you have a creative eye and a knack for taking good photos? We're looking for volunteers to capture images at special events and everyday activities at our Johns Island location and at the Neighborhood House in downtown Charleston. These photos will be used for various marketing and communication efforts and will help tell the story of Our Lady of Mercy Community Outreach.
